Speaker Bios

Farhan Syed is Director of Global Sales Operations at LinkedIn Corporation. Previous to that Farhan was a Case Team Leader at Bain & Company. Before that Farhan was a Consultant at Accenture. Farhan co-founded Qubestone, a non-profit dedicated to providing strategic and operations consulting to Muslim organizations. Farhan served on the board of directors of ING and the management committee of Zaytuna College. Farhan holds a BA from the University of California, Berkeley in MCB and Economics, an MA from the University of Pennsylvania in International Studies with a focus on the Middle East and Arabic, and an MBA from The Wharton School.

Sadia Saifuddin is a third year Social Welfare major originally from Stockton, California. Sadia currently serves as an ASUC Senator representing the Middle Eastern Muslim South Asian Coalition on UC Berkeley's campus. Her passion for social justice is reflected in her work to bridge communities, fight Islamophobia, and create the UC Berkeley Food Pantry, which would service Cal students that struggle with financial issues with free food and personal hygiene items. Sadia authored the Senate Bill 114 "A Resolution Condemning Islamophobic Hate Speech at the University of California" which passed unanimously through the Senate and is now being passed in Senates across the UC. She has worked on multiple state-wide projects such as UNITE, which is the system-wide committee on campus climate issues, and the 2012 MSA West Conference where she served as Conference Chair. Currently, Sadia is working on developing a nonprofit that provides services to Muslim women and children that are survivors of domestic and sexual violence. In her free times, Sadia enjoys working out, making chocolate truffles, and napping on the beach.

Sean Christopher Ali Stone majored in American History, studying at Oxford and Princeton University; he graduated from Princeton in 2006, after completing his thesis on the 'New World Order'. By then he was fortunate enough to have worked with such organizations as Save the Children in Somalia, and the gang prevention program Unity-One for Jim Brown's Amer-I-Can group in Los Angeles. Stone is currently developing multiple productions, including co-productions in Iran, Brazil, and two films scheduled to be filmed in the United States this year.

Obaid Tohki graduated from Cal in 2010 with a degree in Business Administration and Near Eastern Studies. He has been working in technology companies since he graduated and previously worked at Google and LinkedIn. He is currently working at Callidus Cloud which is a cloud computing company in the bay area serving as an Account Manager and in Business Development parts of the organization. He hopes to apply for an MBA soon.

Wazhma Mojaddidi began her law practice in 2003 because she wanted to provide her clients with competent legal representation with a personal touch.  As her practice grows, she continues to put extra care and passion into her clients' needs. Ms. Mojaddidi received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of California, Davis. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and graduated in the Order of the Barristers. Upon graduation, she served as an Adjunct Professor in the International Appellate Advocacy Department at McGeorge. She also served as the Program Director for the UC Davis King Hall Immigrant Detention Program in Davis, CA. Ms. Mojaddidi has a rich cultural background and is fluent in several languages, including Pashto, Farsi, Urdu and French. Because of her familiarity and ties to many cultures and her impressive language skills, she is able to provide a unique service to her clients that is unparalleled in the legal arena.

Fahrzin Hemmati received his BS in Computational Engineering Science in 2011 while co-founder of Recrec Labs, a startup applying computer vision to web development. He currently works on Google Glass' manufacturing software, previously working on the Google Webserver team for a year. Prior to Google, he worked at the Berkeley-local Socialplex building backend and deployment software.

Wahid Syed is currently a 3rd year medical student at UC Davis School of Medicine. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in MCB in 2009. At UC Berkeley, he was heavily involved with the Student Learning Center, UCSF volunteering, and the MSA. He took a year off before starting medical school and worked as a Speech and Debate coach at Leland High School, teaching and training students in the art of public speaking. He mentors pre-med students from both UC Berkeley and UC Davis

Shahid Syed is currently a 3rd year medical student from St. George's University completing his clinical rotations in Southern California. He graduated Leland High School in San Jose, CA in 2005 and then went on to pursue a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley. He graduated in 2009 and moved back to San Jose, where he worked as a Substitute Teacher for the San Jose Unified School District as well as an Assistant Coach for the Leland Speech and Debate team. Shahid moved to True Blue, Grenada in August of 2010 to begin his 1st year of Medical School at SGU. While studying, Shahid sat on the SGU MSA Board as President and Treasurer in his respective final 2 terms on the Island. Having completed his Basic Science curriculum in May 2012, Shahid moved back home to California before moving down to the San Bernardino County to begin his clinical education at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, CA, where he currently resides.

Nader Alacozy is currently employed as a Consultant at Deloitte in San Francisco. He works mainly in the area of technology involving Software Asset Management and Software License Compliance. Nader received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley in May 2011. He was involved with the MSA at UC Berkeley and currently serves as the Vice President of the newly formed Cal Muslim Alumni group.
